During the LSU Spring game, starting safety Grant Delpit fractured his collarbone while making a play on the ball in the third quarter. He leaped to break up a pass and landed awkwardly on his left side and immediately grabbed his shoulder afterwards. Tiger Stadium went silent until he walked off the field with his own power. Two days later he had surgery to repair the collarbone and he will be out for 8 weeks. He'll be good to go for Fall Camp.
Delpit is a 6'3 strong safety and he has compared to the LSU great Jamal Adams. It's almost like he's a Jamal Adams clone with the way that they both have a knack for the football. Last season Delpit tallied 61 tackles which was 3rd on the team and highest for any true freshman for the Tigers. He had one interception vs Shea Patterson week 8 at Ole Miss.
Expect Delpit to be back to 100% by the time camp comes around, he and Ed Paris will compete for the starting job.
